Overview
This privacy policy describes how ScreenZone handles information when you use the ScreenZone Chrome extension. ScreenZone is a browser extension that lets you capture screenshots and tab recordings, annotate them, and save files to your computer.
Data we collect
Depending on how you use ScreenZone, we may process:
- Local extension data on your device, such as capture history metadata (for example thumbnails and filenames), settings, free-use counters, and Pro status cached in Chrome storage.
- A randomly generated device ID stored locally and sent to our backend when you open checkout or check Pro status.
- Payment-related information processed by our payment provider if you purchase Pro (for example customer identifiers returned by the provider). We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Basic technical information needed to operate checkout and subscription status requests (for example request timestamps and success/failure of API calls).
We do not require an account to use the free features. Captured screenshot and recording files created by the free capture flow are saved to your computer through Chrome’s download feature and are not uploaded by that flow.
How we use data
We use the information above to:
- Provide capture, annotation, recording, and download features
- Enforce free-plan limits and apply Pro entitlements
- Create checkout sessions and verify payment/subscription status
- Maintain and troubleshoot the extension’s billing-related backend
Where data is stored
- Local history, settings, counters, device ID, and cached Pro status are stored on your device using Chrome extension storage (and related local storage used by the extension).
- Subscription status associated with your device ID is stored in our Supabase project database.
- Payment processing data is stored by Dodo Payments according to their policies.
